Road Plates
Our heavy-duty anti-skid steel road plates, designed to be used as a temporary road surface for vehicles and pedestrians, have the traditional 4 x lifting holes, with one on each corner. However, our available stock also incorporates a central lifting point socket to make it easier and safer than conventional methods when being handled using mechanical handling equipment. This premium feature further improves our offering over most other steel road plate suppliers.
The safe lift road plate lifting adaptor and single leg chain required to connect to the central lifting point socket on each safe lift steel road plate, along with any securing bolts and caps to help secure the road plates to the ground by anchoring, are available upon request (if required). Alternatively, if you prefer to use the conventional method for lifting, then we’ll be able to supply a 4-leg chain for allowing any operative(s) to use the traditional 4 x lifting holes (although this will be more labour intensive).
The surface of our steel road plates is covered in the tough and durable Rocbinda product (a high friction and skid resistant surfacing system). We use HAPAS and BBA approved materials. Our road plates are manufactured from S275 (structural grade mild steel).
Our two main sizes of heavy-duty anti-skid steel road plates are;
- 2400mm x 1200mm x 19mm (8ft x 4ft x 0.75“) – approximately 450kg.
- 1200mm x 1200mm x 19mm (4ft x 4ft x 0.75“) – approximately 225kg.
They are ideal for use in high traffic areas to help maintain traffic flow and for bridging excavations such as trenches and manholes. Providing a reliable, effective and safe addition for site access or in roadworks. Popular uses and applications include (although are not limited to); highways, utilities, civils, drainage, demolition, events and construction projects.
Please note that it is the customers responsibility to plan their safe use of steel road plates, in advance of any order with us. An assessment must be undertaken to ensure the suitability of our road plates for any job that they are intended for. We do not supply any loading data and suggest that all customers should consult a suitably qualified person, such as a chartered structural engineer. We can help (upon prior request) to place the road plates into position, although any installation and in service checks to ensure full compliance are entirely the responsibility of our customers. We suggest ‘clicking here’ and reading the Department for Transport’s traffic advisory leaflet titled ‘Using Road Plates at Roadworks’.
With large stocks for hire or sale across the UK mainland via our network of yards and with deliveries using our specialist transport vehicles equipped with either Hiab truck mounted cranes or Moffett truck mounted forklifts, we’re capable of handling any steel road plate requirement, both efficiently and competitively, in a highly responsive manner.
